Boring CPO Meeting of Feb. 2, 2026

The meeting was called to order at 7:01pm by CPO Chair Michael Fitz,   He the group in the Pledge of Allegiance. The Boring CPO Board was introduced.

In attendance were:  Greg Marston, Diane Kelso,  John Lee, Peter Hoffman, Kathy Bigelow, Candy Wiege, Steve Wiege, Kim Ierien, Dwight Reigent, Matt Job, Fitz, Betty Bates, Steve Bates, Rod Collman, Connie Glad, Doug Glad, Jim Valberg, Tanya Hamell, Pamula Burback, Pennie Shaw, John Griffin, Nancy Edwards

Guest Speaker:    John Wildhaber

John introduced us to the mobile app and how to sign into it for information on what is happening in Clackamas County and our local area.  They are still working to improve the app.

 Boring-Damascus Grange & Park Committee – No Report

Clackamas Fire Department – Matt Jobb

  • Boring had 853 calls this year, Tanker truck overturned on Revenue Rd. Fire in Eagle Creek, 362 shop fires.  Several Medical and held training on ventilation.  Question asked about cameras and no cameras are used by P10.  Also asked where the nearest Ladder Truck was and it is stationed in Milwaukie, rescue boat is in Damascus.  Backyard burning is determined by DEQ and air quality.  It will open in March.  Explosion in Canby was at a plant that make Rocket parts.  

Vice Chair:  Pam Burback

Pam was elected to the Board so now she can vote!   The man that rode his bike from here to Boston and then to A Barge to Iceland then on to Dull, Scotland wrote a book about his adventure.  Sunrise Corridor not expected to progress until 2030.  If you have any ideas or suggestions talk to Pam.  

Boring Oregon Foundation –   Steve Bates

  • Moving forward on the Community Center at the old Boring Garden Center sight.  They are waiting for the appraisal before submitting plans to the county.  For Boring and Dull Day this year there will be a cruise in on Lusted Rd. at Jerry’s Car Barn.  Tickets for the Raffle will be available at the April CPO meeting for $10.00 each.  Blue Bag project still going.  Next meeting March 26th

Boring Equestrian Center – No responce

Moment In Boring History:  Jim Valberg

The Tavern has been around since the early 20’s in the 50’s it was a lunch counter and sold milk shakes.  From 51 to 58 it was owned by Darrell and Jan Clum and they lived in the house between the Tavern and what is now Home Masters.  Then moved to Wally Rd.  Lila Leathers once dated one of the Clums.

CPO Minutes for December, 2025 were distributed. There were approved as written.  Motion to approve John Lee second Rod Collman.

Treasurer’s Report:   John Lee

The Treasurer reported that the balance remains the same.  $1121.06

Land Use Issues:

Z0465-25  19609 Chitwood Road Not in Boring area  3000 sq. ft. of a building for home occupation and storage business.

Z0214-25  28712 Hwy 212, James Kinney, 4 acre lot, 3 acre zoned residential 1 acre zoned commercial wants to partition into 3cre and 1 acre 

Mike Fitz suggested that we add Bruce Haney as a Board Member at Large.  Official Historian.  Motion to approve Rod Collman second Jim Valberg.  Approved

Public Comme  

Bob Cushman,  Cascade Rigger was inducted into the International Hall of Fame for Riggers.

Stevw Bates requested the CPO sign a letter requesting ½ a million in the general fund be allocated to Parks and recreation.  Motion to sign Steve Bates second Steve Wiege.  Approve with 1 not approving.
